West Moors Village Surgery is working closely with local pharmacists to support you with certain minor health conditions.

Pharmacists are highly trained health professionals.  They can assess your symptoms and prescribe medication if needed. This includes antibiotics or antiviral medicines.

Please check the ages below before you visit a pharmacy:

Earache

• Who can go: Children and teenagers aged 1 to 17 years.

Impetigo

• Who can go: Adults and children aged 1 year and over.

Infected Insect Bites

• Who can go: Adults and children aged 1 year and over.

Shingles

• Who can go: Adults aged 18 years and over.

Sinusitis

• Who can go: Adults and children aged 12 years and over.

Sore Throat

• Who can go: Adults and children aged 5 years and over.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

• Who can go: Women aged 16 to 64 years.

• No Appointment Needed: You can just walk in. Many pharmacies are open late and at weekends.
• Expert Care: Pharmacists can safely check your illness and give you the right medicine.
• The Right Care, Right Away: If your illness is more serious, the pharmacist will send you to our GP surgery or another health service.
• Free Up GP Appointments: Using a pharmacy helps free up our appointments for patients with complex medical needs.

Prescription Charges: If you do not pay for prescriptions, your Pharmacy First treatment is free. If you usually pay for prescriptions, the standard NHS prescription charge will apply.
